National Insect Week
This week marks National Insect Week 2020, a celebration of all the little things; butterflies, moths, beetles, bugs and mini beasts that are crucial to our environment, “the little things that run our world”.
We have made available some pages taken from our Butterfly and Moth colouring books on the Insect Week website so that you can print out and colour-in at home or in your garden while observing any insects you may find. There are also plenty of other great (free) learning resources available on the NIW website here.

Our Insect Photo Diary + Identification Competition
With the hot weather making a return again this week we have been out doing some bug hunting and trying to make a photo diary of whatever we find.
This is such a fun thing to do and really nice to get children (and adults!) involved in some outdoor activities and provides welcome distraction. Making a connection with the various species which may inhabit your garden or local area is invaluable and will provide hours of entertainment.
Send us your answers on Facebook or Twitter and whoever can correctly identify all of the insects in the photos below (the 2 winners will be picked out of a hat) we will post you out a copy of each of our 2 colouring books; British Butterflies and British Moths.
Be sure to also keep updated over the course of the week with some of the great virtual events going on at the National Insect Week website. Let’s forget maths for a few days and count bugs instead!
Happy solstice and happy bug hunting from team KlickKlack x
